 Madres Unidas is a bi-lingual parent support group held at the Summer Park Apartments in Southeast Fresno. The group provides on-going support and a place to share information, ideas, and resources. The Madres learn positive parenting solutions in a respectful environment and offer each other encouragement. There is an sense of community, understanding, and a place to talk about their problems. They have received training to increase skills in Nutrition and became CPR certified. One of the groups' goals was to become CPR certified. FBU was able to find an instructor to come to the resource cent at the Summer Park Apartments at a low cost. The group organized a bake sale and raised funds to pay for their training. They were very proud and excited to see how teamwork paid off. Sine the Madres became certified., they are now able to volunteer to be pool monitors at the apartment complex. |
